New Ships – MSC Cruises’ MSC Meraviglia & MSC Seaside Arriving 2017

Two of the “hottest” ships will make their debut this year — the ultra-modern and high-tech MSC Meraviglia and the MSC Seaside. Guests on both will be awe-struck by the many fabulous offerings – superb dining, spacious accommodations, incredible water parks, unique promenades, acclaimed youth programs and much more. For the first time, Cirque du Soleil shows will be featured at sea, along with a plethora of other captivating entertainment options.

Meaning “wonder” in Italian, the 167,600-ton, 4,500-guest MSC Meraviglia (pronounced mare-a-veel-ya) will debut in summer 2017. She will be the line’s newest flagship, the first of its Vista class and one of the world’s largest ships. With all the trappings of a mega-resort and then some, she’s chock full of amenities and activities. Top-deck amusements will delight the entire family, including an Aqua Park with three water slides, a splash pool and a “Himalayan Bridge” that allows guests to cross the ship nearly 200 feet above water. Three pools are open to all guests. The 82-foot-long South Beach-inspired main pool has some of the most inviting poolside space at sea, with lots of dining and bar venues.

Cutting-edge technology on this “smart ship” will allow guests to access staterooms, make payments, as well as geo-locate children, friends and onboard locations by using their cruise card or smartphone. A two-story amusement park will boast such exciting features as simulators for race cars and flights, a 4D cinema and a full-sized bowling alley. At night the aft pool will transform into a dance area. This  ship also features a dedicated lounge for family fun.

A 262-foot LED dome covers the Mediterranean-style promenade with a “digital sky” that will offer ever changing visual shows 24/7, with such images as starry skies at night, creating a magical feel. Guests will be able to stroll along and enjoy the many shops, chic bars, restaurants, plus ice cream and crêpes from Jean Philippe Maury. Nightly parades with performers will add to the lively atmosphere. Delightful extras include a two-story aft lounge, a solarium with a pool and specialty restaurants with delectable culinary delights.

Choose from a wide variety of accommodations, including “cluster cabins” for families, and an extended exclusive MSC Yacht Club, the self-contained luxury area on the foredecks, which will offer duplex suites, a solarium, pool, private lounge and restaurant, 24/7 butler service and much more providing a delightful private enclave.

Dining aboard MSC Meraviglia will include 12 amazing venues, sure to please everyone’s palate. Mouth-watering cuisine will be served in a vast array of settings ranging from formal dining to casual selections. Room service is available for the convenience of passengers.

Guests can choose their sumptuous and well-appointed accommodations from 10 different types, so there will be something to best suit everyone’s needs and desires. Multi-generational travelers will find new modular staterooms an ideal choice, as up to three staterooms can be combined to accommodate up to 10 guests. Lavish Duplex Suites will boast their own solarium, lounge, restaurants and even a swimming pool.

Over-the-top entertainment will include two exclusive Cirque du Soleil at Sea shows at the specially designed Carousel Lounge, ensures everyone enjoys virtually unobstructed views from a 180° circular glass wall. Broadway-style shows and Las Vegas-like productions will be offered along with live music and dancing. The karaoke bar and comedy club are the perfect spots for a rollicking good time.

MSC Seaside

Custom-built for Caribbean cruising, MSC Cruises’ first of its Seaside class ships also enters service this year — the revolutionary 160,000-ton, 5,179-guest MSC Seaside. Aptly named, she was designed to enhance the cruise experience by providing a sense of closeness to the sea and is the largest in the fleet featuring the most outdoor space per passenger than any other cruise ship.  Adding to this spacious open feel, are glass elevators boasting panoramic views and a glass-floored unique walkway.

Stroll along the 360° waterfront promenade that circumvents the ship and enjoy stylish bars, alfresco dining venues and shops. Take advantage of open-air treatments at the spa. Grab a seat poolside for sun bathing, people watching and socializing.

Your entire family will love the full-sized bowling alley, teen and youth programs, play areas for the kids along with a restaurant just for them. Soaking and thrills will be found at the interactive multi-story aqua park that is one of the largest at sea, featuring five different water slides, including two high-speed racing slides with loops that extend over the side of the ship. This high-tech ship has slide-boarding with interactive games, lights music and more. Tots even have their own adventure trail area. Try the ropes course, where you will be ducking from the many spray cannons and experience the thrill of soaring across the top deck via zip lines.
Savor delicious cuisine at nine eateries, including five specialty restaurants. A new Pan-Asian venue, steakhouse and seafood restaurant and other savory choices. Families are catered to, including a dedicated “kids-only” buffet.

All were designed to blend comfort and style. Luxury is offered at the exclusive MSC Yacht Club – boasting a private lounge, pool and solarium, 24/7 butler service and more.
