Alluring enhancements will make Norwegian Cruise Line’s 250-acre private island in the Bahamas, Great Stirrup Cay, more fabulous than ever. Family-friendly amenities and new luxury features are just some of the exciting renovations that will make a visit here a fun and completely delightful experience. This project is expected to be completed by summer 2017 as part of a multi-million dollar upgrade program called “The Norwegian Edge.”

Exclusive to Norwegian Cruise Line guests, the delightful tropical paradise offers an idyllic place to relax and enjoy such natural beauty as the Bahamas famous pristine white sand beaches and aquamarine waters. New attractions will include stunning private villas, enticing dining venues and a lagoon. Sure to be a thriller, are two parallel 1,000-foot-long zip lines, so your friends can soar nearby. Dive into an exciting new adventure on an beachincredible snorkel trail through a mystical underwater sculpture garden that even boasts a waterproof map to guide divers and snorkelers as they explore this magical world.

Norwegian Cruise Line guests will also be able to stroll along a new half-mile boardwalk with over 100,000 square feet of walkway at the Great Stirrup Cay beach with shaded benches where you can just sit and enjoy the views. Adjacent to this area will be a half-acre sports complex boasting volleyball and basketball courts, Ping-Pong tables, plus a stage for live music and other entertainment. An air-conditioned reception area serves as a comfortable planning center.

Whether it is all of the activities or simply the sea breeze making you hungry, there are plenty of delicious dining venues. Head to the complimentary new Abaco Taco where you can create your own at the taco bar with many scrumptious offerings. Furthering Norwegian Cruise Line’s partnership with Jimmy Buffett’s popular restaurant Margaritaville, now LandShark Bar & Grill will also be featured on the island. Here you can enjoy great casual fare from an à la carte menu accompanied by delicious tropical drinks as well as a selection of beers.

 

Luxury Villas & Exclusive Lagoon

Debuting on Great Stirrup Cay, will be the exclusive Lagoon Retreat, for Haven guests and other suite passengers, designed for them to be immersed in a pampered and relaxing experience. The private area will feature a covered family section, an oceanview restaurant and a four-room Mandara Spa offering stress-relieving massages.

SuiteTwenty-two air-conditioned villas will be available to rent with a selection of styles. Studio villas will accommodate two to four people and the one-bedrooms, up to four to six guests and 10 people in the larger two-bedroom. All will boast an outdoor terrace, perfect to enjoy the Caribbean sunrises and sunsets, private bathroom, plus living and dining areas.

Enjoy a family beach area with shallow water as well as various sports activities. Picnic tables will also be available for the perfect Caribbean lunch outdoors. Complimentary dining will also be offered at the delightful Silver Palm restaurant, where you can enjoy, indoor, alfresco and rooftop terrace seating.
